What's the difference bettwen emo and punk?

People are calling me emo because I got a new haircut. I think I look just punk! What's the difference?

emo are the guys that call everyone and everything: conformist.





they think we live in a senseless world, are constantly drama queens faking being depressed to get attention.





Punk was an anti.political movement in England that moved to the USA, it became a way to "not follow the government", so, if ur punk then ur making a statement.





Or it could be just a fashion

Emo and punk are like opposites.


Punk is studded jeans, vests and leather jackets..more 'hardcore" if you will.


emo is comsidered soft, poetic, emotional...


and maybe you are just being called emo because nowadays, anything that is not gangster is basically referred to as "emo" which is rediculous.

emo is kinda like punks but seem to always be acting like they have troubles and their hair cutes usually cover some of their faces
Reply:people are dumb and loove to call everyone with edgy hair emo. emo actually means emotional, sliting wrists and just alot of black on. punk is more rock n roll and hardcore love to party!! sure your hair can be emo/scene/punk whatever but just make sure your still youself. hope i was helpful :D

But if you meant the music genre...Then I'd say that Fall Out Boy is an example of a punk band, and Aiden is an example of an emo band.

Emo and punk are both genres of music but are classified into stereotypes which are all basically nonsense..

I've seen everything, believe me, including this stuff.

Reply:don't even listen to what other people say about you. And emo means EMOtional those kind of people dress in black and think death is an interesting thing and listen to emo music. Punk is just like a type of style were they wear tattered clothes and have lots of tattoos and rings and listen to bands like green day and fall out boy. That's pretty much it.
