Okay so...?

im 13 and imm pretty responsible and mature for myy age.

when i was 12 i asked my mom if i could have my belly button pierced and she said no, cause i'd look like a skank.

i know i wouldnt look like a skank if i only had it to show off when i was wearin a bkini or somethin,

not to wear belly shirts and go walkin down th street or anythin like that.

how can i convince herr tht its not skankish?

andd i dont want overprotectivee mothers of 10 yr olds answerin this sayin your too young and it is skankish.

only supportiveee ppl on this.

thnks.
Okay so...?
belly button rings are gross they do make you look like a skank even if you dont wear belly shirts and they get infected and are gross. they are very ugly
Okay so...?
you should prove to her that your mature enough
Reply:im 14 and why the hell would you want that? its so cliche.
Reply:just do it there are so many places that will do it without her permission...
Reply:well, maybe you could start off with a small piercing thats not really visible but still there..and later on (when u grow older), move to a bigger ring. also, tell your mom that you are mature now and are willing to take responsibility for your actions.
Reply:Well, I do think thirteen is young, but you might be onto something with the protective mom thing :)

Find another adult your mom knows that will support you on this. My friends mom is SO into piercings and got her eyebrow pierced and she backed me on getting a second piercing, and it worked, but now my mom doesnt like me goin to that friends house as much : - /

If you cant think of anyone, discuss with your mom why you think you are mature enough and tell her that you will agree to some terms. Like maybe wearing one pieces when you go to public pools, when you go head on into discussion it usually works, unless your mom starts out like "Oh, hell no!" then you probably dont have a chance. Oh and I wouldnt take the risk if you have an outie belly button, I dont know the fatcs but there is a 10% chance that something will go wrong(I cant remember what it was) and when that goes wrong there is a 20% chance you could die of some sort of infection or the needle hitting something.
Reply:Over the summer going into 9th grade I was at the beach and saw some nose rings at a store. I was joking and said to my mom, "Hey mom! Can I get my nose pierced?!"

I was completely joking when I said it (personally, I am not a fan of nose piercings anyways), but she instantly replied with, "NO FACE PIERCINGS!"

So, then I was still joking and said, "What about my belly button?" and shockingly, she agreed. I decided then I should get it done.

Maybe try something like that? Work your way from like, an eyebrow piercing, to a nose piercing, to a lip piercing, to the belly button. It will sort of show that a belly button ring is a good compromise compared to blatant facial piercings.
Reply:i think its pretty cool that u want a belly button piercing. AWESOME! but seriously talk to her. one on one. not in the car planning something. just get her focused on YOU. YOU ROCK!
Reply:I know how you feel same here everything me and my mom are so diffrent we always butt heads because its ALWAYS her way or the highway. there is NO way you can convince them sorry they are so protective around us my parents started acting diffrent ever since i turned thirteen i hate it. . .
Reply:GOD, if you people aren't gonna give this girl a quality answer, then don't answer at all! FUUUUUCK! Now that I got THAT out...

You can convince her by saying:

- It'll make you feel pretty

- It'll teach you responsibility since you have to clean it like 2x a day till it heals, and then you still have to clean it regularly

- You'll pay for it yourself (looks like you'll have to, offering makes it easier for her to say yes)

- It's the way you act that makes you a skank, not whether or not you have a piece of metal shoved through your navel.

Um...I'll add more when I think of them :P

PS - PLEASE whatever you do, don't go to some sketchy back alley place where they'll do it without her permission. Those places...eh. They're usually not at all up to par with sanitation and stuff. Not that I think you would, but just to get it out there.
Reply:first of all, getting your belly pierced is NOT skanky; it's more of a trend... i got my belly button pierced at age 13 and my parents were okay with it because i had sraight A's and i was an honor student and before that, my parents use to give me money for every A i got so instead of money, i asked to get my belly pierced; my mom even came with me and signed the paper and i paid for it myself. they DON'T get infected if your cleaning it everyday with alcohol or peroxide. just make sure that your doing good in school and that you get along well with your parents... i mean i did, and that's why they let me get it pierced :D
Reply:OK I HAVE CHILDREN ABOUT YOUR AGE AND I WON'T SAY THAT I AM CRAZY ABOUT YOUR AGE AND BELLY PIERCING . BUT I THINK THAT IF YOU LET HER KNOW HOW MUCH YOU WANT IT AND YOUR RESPONSIBLE SHE MAY GET EASIER ABOUT IT. ALSO A LITTLE HINT-LET HER KNOW THAT IT WOULD HEEL FAST AND NOT LEAVE MUCH OF A SCARE IF DONE PROFESSIONALLY!
Reply:im not an overprotective mother of a ten year old but it does look kinda skankish....

but if u really want one then tell ur mom how responsible u are and prove it to her...

but whatever u do dont go behind her back and do it cuz when she finds out shes gonna be really overprtective and never trust u and think ur irresponsible

hope i helped!

ps. remember not to go behind ur moms back!
